Easy Vegan Ranch Dressing

Ranch dressing is great for salads and dipping vegetables. Store bought ranch dressing and dips are loaded with fats and preservatives and are definitely not vegan. Here’s a great recipe that’s super quick and easy to whip up!

vegan mayo (I use vegenaise)

italian spices

vegan milk (soy, almond, rice, etc)

salt and pepper, to taste

Start off with adding some mayo into a bowl (it will be the main base of the dressing). Add some milk, how much you use depends on how thick you want your ranch. If you want it like a dip, just add a little bit but if you want it for a dressing on salads add more. Use a fork to blend the mayo and milk. Add more milk or mayo to get desired consistency.  Then go crazy with spices. I use the Italian grinders you can find which have rosemary, oregano and basil. You can also use fresh herbs or whichever dry herbs you enjoy the most. The fresh herbs won’t keep as long so keep that in mind. Add salt and pepper to taste and you’re done!

This dip would also be a good dip for the fried okra recipe that I just posted!

First trip to Austin’s Farmers Market

On Saturday my man and I went to Austin’s Farmers Market downtown.  It was our first time there because we usually sleep too late on the weekends! But we got up early and headed down there. There’s food stands, plants, bands, and of course fresh fruit and vegetables. When we first got there we got some food. He got duck egg and chorizo and I got tofu curry. Then we wandered around a bit. We ended up getting some carrots, broccoli, radishes and a strawberry plant.

Today I cut up some of the veggies and made a ranch dip to eat them with. The carrots and broccoli were great, but the radishes were a bit dried out.

The ranch dip I made was super easy, yummy and of course vegan! You can easily make more or less depending on how much you need too.

1/2 cup Veganise
1 tsp lemon (or lime)juice
about 1 tsp Italian seasoning (I use the grinder style)
1/2 tsp dried basil
optional: soymilk

Mix all the ingredients together. If you want more of a salad dressing instead of dip add soymilk until you get the desired consistency.

Here’s our strawberry plant right after we replanted it into a larger container. As you can see it already has strawberries on it!

Herb, Ranch and Veggie Snack

As a child I never got into radishes, but my Mom had some fresh radishes the other day and I decided to try them out. And guess what? I loved them! Especially with a little vegan ranch dressing.
I started to play around with different toppings and found that fresh herbs such as basil, rosemary, lavender, and thyme were a great addition to the veggie/ranch combo! If you have fresh herbs around you should try it out, even if you don’t have ranch. It adds a nice flavor.

In this picture I have made some sliced radishes and cherry tomatoes with ranch and a variety of herbs.
