I started a new blog to separate this blog up a bit. It seems like fashion and food don’t really go together that well, so I thought I’d start a new blog dedicated to fashion and keep this blog for my bento and food posts.

I am going to expand the fashion aspect of the blog also. It will feature trends, tutorials, great finds, and unique scarves and vintage clothing that will be sold on my new store modernmayhem.etsy.com

So if this sounds interesting, go check it out and save the link.

Vegan Strip Club August 7, 2008

In Portland, Oregon there is a new strip club in town which is a little different from the others…. it’s all vegan. They serve the traditional club food with a vegan twist, the strippers even wear pleather.

This concept has gotten many people (i.e. women) in the area upset. As a vegan woman, I am not upset by this at all. There will be strip clubs no matter what, so why fight one that at least is trying to help people become familiar with vegan food and ideas? Although I consider myself a feminist, I do not think that strip clubs are a problem when they are safe for the women that work there. The women choose to go there and work, they are not forced, and they can quit if they don’t feel comfortable. I think it is wrong of other women to try to regulate what other women are doing. Everyone has the right to choose what they want in life, and if that includes working at a strip club, I say go for it.

If there was a vegan strip club where I live, I would visit. I am always open to new vegan eateries, and although I’ve never been to a strip club, I think it would be an interesting experience.

Maternity Dress July 30, 2008

For my Apparel 3 class I needed to make a lined dress appropriate for maternity. I thought a wrap dress would be perfect.
My idea was that a wrap dress would be great for maternity because it would expand for the growing tummy and the mother could wear it before, during, and after the pregnancy. First I had to make the necessary adjustments to the pattern. There were a lot to make, but I was pretty happy when I was able to do it without help.
I think it turned out really well. It’s just how I had imagined. I added pleats to the bottom layer to give even more room. The ties are extra long so the dress can be tied in the front or back.

Since I’m a poor college student, I am putting this dress up for sale plus many other clothing items on my sweetheart clothing etsy site. This dress is only $65, so go buy it now.
